As the number one vendor for its niche, iProcedures develops the best apps and tools for the anesthesia industry. They are the owners of several robust clinical decision support systems that have been helping anesthesiologists make the right decisions for their patients for over a decade, including those in emergencies.
We were tasked to help iProcedures create optimal surgery reporting and provide customized web dashboards for various specialties within hospitals. We were thrilled to be in a project that was directly related to saving lives.
The dashboard would include predefined reports with all the necessary elements, including charts, tables, and graphical elements, that provide the required information, based on the hospital’s area specialty.
The platform is designed so the hospital management personnel can create customized reports for their patients. These reports include anesthesia checklists, billing, preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative reports. Then, it generates these reports by using health records and systems data and provides the correct information in a format that’s easy to read and get’s updated as soon as new data is available.
We started this project from zero. The first immediate need was to be able to create a platform that could match up to the custom requirements that hospitals were in need of. This platform should be able to connect to multiple systems, and through a common server, deliver the results that a hospital manager needed to query.
In addition, if a report was found useful, it should be added to a list of helpful reports, and then, lists of tailored reports should be visible only to the hospitals that needed them, so a role-based authorization was needed.
Our team was asked to create an integrated and easy-to-use dashboard system that would generate customized charts and tables for the different surgery departments within hospitals. Our team developed a new data source and a custom report generator. We used client-specific data to create a new web application to generate detailed reports on anesthesia cases.
To start, our business analyst started by researching the needs of various hospitals, the overall needs of the industry, and any specific needs clients may have for the new reporting application.
Then, our design and development team adopted agile methodologies, iterative approaches, continuous integration, and continuous delivery, and with these methodologies in place, we designed a new system that uses client-specific data to create a new web application that generates detailed reports on anesthesia scenarios. We built an analytics system designed to streamline the decision-making process for hospital managers by charting all patient medical records into efficient reports.
In addition, we worked on the iPad anesthesia application, optimizing the application that records a patient’s preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative records. Our QA team ensured that all bugs were fixed before deployment.

Tailored for the hospital managers and designed to be simple and user-friendly, the Analytics Dashboard allows for easy data navigation and reports management. We are glad to share that it successfully got the hands of many surgeons, anesthetists, clinicians, administrators, and other staff members.
The platform collects data on case volumes, surgeon scheduling, and billing and provides analytics on administration, anesthesia reports, OR utilization, clinical outcomes, and much more.
With better insights on hand, hospitals can make more effective decisions around plans for workflow improvements more easily.
